Currently reading.
Finally got myself the time to read. For the past few weeks I had been bombarded by humongous piles of course readings. We were tasked to read excerpts from The Analects, Gilgamesh, The Ramayana, and some Japanese poetry at Lit class. So far, I still haven’t developed a taste for Non-Western Literature.

This is what I see from my seat on our Saturday classes. Forgive the photo. It seems not too much to look at, but it looks picturesque IRL.

THE VIRGIN SUICIDES
Written and Directed by Sophia Coppola
Based on the novel by Jeffrey Eugenides
Click here for the plot summary.
Very thought-provoking and emotionally wrenching. Not to mention disturbing. Well, at least to me. And I think no one could’ve ever depicted Lux Lisbon’s character better than Kirsten Dunst.
I guess I have to watch more Sophia Coppola films if I want to be an effective screenwriter someday. Not that I dream of becoming a screenwriter, it’s just that it is well within the field I’m into. I’ll be graduating in two years, (I have to, unless I’d want my parents to strangle me to death) and I do not know what the demanding film industry would offer me so I might as well learn all aspects of it.
I can’t wait to dig into the book! Got my copy yesterday. But it falls last on my never-ending pending books list. I swear I won’t buy new books again until I finish them all. I hate it when I feel the rush and impulsively buy books every effing time I enter a bookstore. The realization always gets to me when I’m already home, my pocket murdered.

HERO by Perry Moore
The book I’m currently reading. I’ve been looking for it for weeks already and I only found it last week at an online thrift shop. A little filthy, but still in a good condition all in all. I hate it that Fullybooked and National Bookstore doesn’t secure a copy of such an amazing book in their shelves. I’m halfway through the book and it’s great so far. I wish I could finish it before school starts. Next on the list: Jeffrey Eugenides’ The Virgin Suicides.
